Why Do You Need to Practice the Art of Self-Reflection

As life is fast-paced in every sense, you tend to get caught up in everything that is going on around you. While technology is great in making your life straightforward, it makes it harder to spend time with yourself. Today, it is very important to slow things down, so that you can make sense of everything. In other words, it is essential to practice the art of self-reflection so that you can grow both as an individual and a spiritual person simultaneously. Being one with your thoughts will help you come to terms with your life while giving you the solutions to turn your life around completely. Here are three reasons why you need to practice the art of self-reflection on a regular basis: To challenge and understand your negative thoughts Due to speed at which everything moves around you, there will be several times when you tend to dwell on negative thoughts. Amour-propre

Self-esteem – a game-changing recognition… Many people have already told you that you must have more “amour-propre”, in fact, the lack of self-esteem so many times is the cause of failures (just like the opposite: excess). It can be the cause of many renounces and mistakes, and you can’t imagine how many times it has happened to me in the past as well. It all changed after I started to understand what it exactly means to increase self-worth, self-trust and self-confidence. If you trust God you trust yourself and vice-versa. This was a game-changing recognition for me. What does it really mean to you to respect someone? Do you love that person or rather appreciate what they do? You need an intuitive guide? This also means that in the process of building up your self-confidence and self-esteem it’s essential to start loving yourself. You esteem someone when you think that person is competent in something. You esteem …

Understanding Tarot – The Overall Basics

Written By: Dr. Nikki You may have heard a lot about tarot. Maybe you heard that it was invented by the ancient Egyptians, or that it was developed by the Romany as they moved into northern Europe. In reality, Tarot dates back to 15th Century Italy where it was developed as a card game of entertainment for the nobility as they escaped the plague-ridden cities for summers in their country villas. The deck for the card game, tarrochi, consisted of four suits – Wands, Pentacles, Cups, and Swords (which have fourteen cards each) and another grouping called the Major Arcana (which is composed of twenty-two cards). A full deck of tarot includes a total of 78 cards. The deck has been revamped and some cards renamed by different artisans through the years, but the basic deck of 78 cards remains the same today as it was when first created. Each card in the tarot deck is assigned specific meanings or concepts. For example, the Cups are aligned with the element of water; the element responsible …

Why Is It So Hard to Love Ourselves?

Unless you are a narcissist, you probably have moments about yourself that make you want to vanish off the face of the earth whenever you remember them. The specifics about what makes a person cringe because of themselves is as unique as we all are, but the experience of that embarrassed feeling where you wish you could crawl (or fall) into a hole is truly universal. Why is it for many of us we can never get past the cringe and forgive ourselves to be able to love ourselves? It’s almost like that Mary Lambert’s song, “Secrets.” In her immutably quirky way, the songstress points out the quick answer as to why it is so hard to love ourselves in the chorus: “They tell us from the time we’re young. To hide the things that we don’t like about ourselves, inside ourselves.” Although delivered in the artist’s tongue-in-cheek style, the lyrics are not all the way wrong – she makes a point. From an early age, we are taught to hide our weaknesses and focus on our strengths, …
